Borland Street | Brookline, MA
Along this steeply sloped street, upper and lower gardens have been planted to frame the concisely crafted board formed concrete wall and entry staircase. The running bond pattern comprising the permeable unit paver driveway reinforces the crisp linear details of the house a bold geometry in the landscape. The flow between the dining and sun terraces is marked by long linear thermal bluestone fingers stretching through lawn out parallel to the glazed house facade. As juxtaposition to the vertical lines of the home exterior, steel posts support a horizontal slat vine trellis of Wisteria. Long reclaimed granite blocks serve as informal seats at the sun terrace, overseeing the lawn and support the terraced garden of native plant material.
